The Leopard 37 Power Cats have been delivered on their own bottoms from Cape Town, South Africa to ports across the Caribbean, Bahamas and the US. The captains have spoken accolades about the handling and comfort underway for the month plus journeys. See the review in this month's edition of Passagemaker Magazine:

I'm hoping Leopard Cats chimes in here but I have my own thoughts. Much of the trip you describe is normally made along the inside passage, which has its quirks but not normally heavy seas and requirements for multi-day offshore passages. The offshore segment from SFO to Puget Sound might be more of a challenge, but when you consider that these boats are often delivered from their builder in South Africa on their own bottoms all over the world, I think the capability is certainly there. Also, when you're cruising up the coast by choice -- meaning you're not a commercial boat with a deadline -- there's no reason not to wait for reasonable weather conditions. My bottom line? This is a boat clearly designed for coastal cruising but is certainly capable of taking careful offshore passages in transit to the great cruising grounds of the world.

Is this boat capable of handling rough trips, like to Alaska from San Francisco? I am looking at the cabins and they do not seem to be well suited for overnight travel. Thanks in advance.

What is the pricing for the Leopard 47?

Has any thoughts been made about a diesel-electric system using MB diesels and siemens propulson electric motors?

Thanks,
Bill Cook
