I currently write for several different boating and marine magazines, as well as for a number of online boating sites, especially the new world-class online boating magazine Mad Mariner. I cover technology and news for Mad Mariner, as well as blogging live from the major boat shows. You can see all my latest boat show reporting here. Some of my features on Mad Mariner have been picked up on TheBoaters.TV, like the piece I did on the retirement of the QE2. I have also written for Northeast Boating magazine, and Chesapeake Bay Magazine.
My writing specialty, and the focus here on Ocean Lines, is boats at sea and advances in marine science. I have a life-long passion for science and technology and spent more than 20 years in a previous career communicating technical topics to public audiences in the aerospace field. I am the author of the Airplane article in the Microsoft Encarta encyclopedia. I am a member of the Boating Writers International association, as well as Science Writers in New York.
I’ve been in boats since I was a small boy fishing with my grandfather in his wooden lapstrake cuddy cabin on Narragansett Bay. I am also the captain of our family’s 43-foot motoryacht, homeported on Long Island and frankly, I would choose a day at sea over a day ashore anytime.
I also do lots of my own photography to illustrate the articles I write. You can see some of my favorite photos in the gallery here: Photo Gallery (link will be active shortly).
Please give me a call and tell me how I can help you with your editorial and photography needs.
