Continuing with this week’s theme of getting into the passagemaking lifestyle…if you’re anywhere near the east end of Long Island this coming weekend (26-28 June) — and that includes you Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut boaters who are just a short ferry ride away — get to the Trawler Fest in Greenport.  Owned and operated by Passagemaker Magazine, Trawler Fests are held in several locations around the U.S. each year.  It’s a great way to to see just trawlers and cruisers and, if you’d like some more formal education, attend a series of compelling seminars.

Among the boats at the show this year will be the Nordic Tugs 54, shown by Wilde Yacht Sales from Essex, Connecticut.  This boat is equipped with everything from a custom hardtop to a clever solar panel installation that will run nearly everything but the air conditioning without any help from the generator.  Ben Wilde and company are also bringing a Nordic Tugs 26, the re-introduced originator of that line, as well as a Nordic Tugs 32 and one of the new Nord Star 31 “sport utility vessels,” which I reviewed here recently.  Here are some of the other boats you can see firsthand:

  • American Global Yacht Group:     Outer Reef 63
  • Brewer Yacht Sales:     Fathom 40
  • Hellier Yacht Sales:     Island Packet SP Cruiser 41
  • Island Pilot:     Island Pilot DSe Hybrid
  • Kadey-Krogen Yachts:     Korgen 44′, Krogen 48′
  • MarineMax Surfside 3:     Meridian 368, Legacy 40 Express
  • Miller Yacht Sales:     Marine Trader 36
  • Nordhavn:     Nordhavn 43 Nola Girl, a flybridge model with stack and davit
  • Prestige Yacht Sales:     American Tug 41
  • Ranger Tugs:     R-21 and R-25
  • Selene Annapolis:     Selene 57
  • Skarne Marine:     Minor Offshore 31 and 27

There is also a tent display with more exhibitors, this year including STIDD, SeaKits, Landfall and Maretron, among many others.  The show is held at the Mitchell Park and Marina, in Greenport, New York.  You can register online (discounts are currently available) at the Trawler Fest website, while directions to the park and marina are here.
